The Year In Review

As I reflect on the previous year, I am reminded of this quote by Bruce Lee, “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.” Seems simple enough.

What were the year’s highs and lows ? What were the successes and failures ? What worked ? What didn’t ? And how can I learn from it ?

I chose to share the below collage not only because I feel the images represent some of my more successful images of the previous year, but also because they reinforce my vision as a photographer- to capture images that celebrate the formal, athletic, whimsical, and sometimes unexpected nature of movement.

Yet, while I chose to focus on the successes for the purposes of this blog post, as any artist will likely tell you, they are never satisfied. As Marie Dressler so perfectly put it, “You are only as good as your last picture.”

Though many of these images will likely form the basis for my updated portfolio, as I move forward into 2014 I will continue to adapt, reject, add, and refine who I am as an artist in an effort to create work that I can be proud of, yet never too comfortable with, if that makes any sense.

You can see larger versions of these images and more by visiting the website.

Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend everyone !
